Medieval Art:
Unicorn Tapestries
There are two famous and gorgeous sets of late medieval Unicorn Tapestries.
One set of six, housed now in the Cluny Museum, was woven in France about 1500 and depicts the five senses and love. These can be viewed here.
The other set is one of the highlights of The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art just north of New York City. This series of seven dynamic tapestries tells the story of the hunt of the unicorn. Check it out here.
